It’s amazing to realize the tools available to find the value of a home. With a few key strokes on your keyboard, an incredible amount of information is available. Here are five place on the web that can guide you in your property search in Chapel Hill, Durham, or the surrounding area:
1. Look into local government web sites for Chapel Hill, NC area (Orange County, Alamance County, Carrboro, Durham) to track sold properties.
2. Search tax assessor offices and county courthouses data bases – to view “sold” prices of desired property.
3. Don’t overlook free websites like Zillow. You won’t have access to as many details as a subscriber site, but it’s a good place to start.
4. Consider subscriber sites like Electronic Appraiser for more specific information. Choose wisely; there is a lot of information being sold that is available for free.
5. Rely on the MLS (Multiple Listing Service), which is what we REALTORS use. The MLS is probably the most valuable database available due to its specificity of facts like days listed, notes about the property’s renovation, buyer’s incentives offered, etc. The MLS is usually only accessible with a licensed REALTOR, but most sites (mine included!) have the search function on their sites.
In fact, if you fill out the find your home’s value form on my site, and I’ll send you a customized, detailed report of your home and neighborhood – for free!
Or you can skip the search and just give me a call. A few keystrokes can initiate the search, but I’ll help you find the value of your home or that home you’ve been eyeing.
